Foreign Affairs, Trade and Trade Linkages Officer of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Shehryar Memon, on Monday met with Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, and paid tribute to the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and described his martyrdom as a huge loss for the Islamic nation.

The meeting was held at the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, where the two sides discussed the legacy and contributions of the late leader. Shahriar Memon expressed his deep condolences, noting that the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei is not only a tragedy for the Iranian nation, but also for the entire Islamic world, which has lost a prominent intellectual and spiritual figure.
“This loss is so profound that its void may not be filled for decades to come,” he noted. Highlighting his legacy, Memon said that the death of Ayatollah Khamenei represents a defining moment in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran, bringing an end to an era characterized by ideological flexibility, political authority, and religious leadership. He noted that for more than three decades, Khamenei has remained at the center of Iran’s political and spiritual life, leading the country through periods of challenge and transformation.
He also stated that Khamenei’s term in office was characterized by a firm commitment to preserving Iran’s ideological identity.
“He consistently emphasized self-reliance, cultural integrity, and resistance to external hegemony,” Memon said, adding that under his leadership, Iran was able to overcome complex geopolitical tensions while maintaining its regional influence.
Maimon also praised Khamenei’s personal qualities, describing him as a principled and consistent leader who prioritizes national dignity and Islamic values. He noted that his speeches resonated deeply with his followers by combining religious insight with a clear political orientation.
In response, Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam thanked Shahriar Memon for his condolences and appreciation for the services of the late leader, acknowledging his support and solidarity with the Iranian nation during this period of grief.
Born in Mashhad, Ayatollah Khamenei rose from a religious scholar to one of the most influential figures in the Islamic world. After the death of Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989, he assumed the position of Supreme Leader, becoming the highest authority in the Iranian political system.
Iranian official media confirmed his death in late February 2026, after air strikes amid escalating regional tensions, and described it as a martyr’s death, marking the end of an important chapter in Iran’s history.
