BEIJING (APP – Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 6th Mar, 2026) The Chinese government’s 2026 work report, presented during the ongoing two national ‘sessions’, has revealed an ambitious blueprint for future industries that is already drawing global attention to the country’s technological prowess.

It sets out a clear vision for promoting emerging strategic industries and future-oriented sectors, signaling a high technological leap that opens new horizons for international cooperation.

According to the Government Work Report, China’s R&D spending intensity reached 2.8% of GDP, while the transaction value of technology contracts increased by 10.8%. Such investments are yielding tangible results, as Chinese progress in artificial intelligence, biomedicine, robotics, low-carbon technologies, and quantum computing are now recognized internationally as state-of-the-art. The production of industrial robots rose by 28 percent, the production of integrated circuits grew by 10.9 percent, and the production of new energy vehicles exceeded 16 million units. Looking to the future, China remains on track to achieve peak carbon by 2030, strengthening its commitment to innovation-driven sustainable development.

This domestic push for high-tech progress is creating a magnetic pull for international partners seeking to participate in China’s innovation-led growth.

In an interview with CEN, Tanveer A. Bhatti, Consul General of Pakistan In Chengdu, he hailed the concept of “new high-quality productive forces” as a forward-looking vision that fully aligns with Pakistan’s development priorities. “We want Pakistani companies, universities and technology talents to actively participate in China’s progress in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, robotics and emerging industries,” the Consul General said.

Such engagement is already taking shape in southwestern China, a region poised to become more open and globally connected under the 15th Five-Year Plan. The Consul General highlighted the region’s potential, noting that “southwestern China, especially Chengdu and Chongqing, is a leading technology hub with proven strengths in electronics, software development and emerging technologies.” He expressed a strong desire to connect Pakistani innovators with Chinese institutions for joint research, technology transfer, skills development and startup cooperation in these cutting-edge fields.
