ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th March, 2026) President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday seriously noted the deteriorating law and order situation in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, especially Skardu, where violent protests have caused widespread damage to public and private infrastructure and disrupted normal life.
He stated that peaceful protest is a constitutional right, but it must be exercised within the framework of the law and within the powers of the presidency news He said release.
The President strongly condemned the wanton destruction and damage to the property of public, private and non-governmental organizations, including public buildings, educational institutions and offices of international organizations.
He said that such actions are illegal and fall within the scope of serious criminal behavior under applicable law, and cannot be justified under any circumstances.
He urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could lead to escalation of tensions. He stressed that stability and respect for the law are necessary to protect national interests and public confidence.
