Widespread thunderstorms and rain with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms hit parts of Sindh, while more widespread intermittent rains with wind, thunder, isolated hailstorms or heavy falls are expected on Friday in the upper and south-eastern areas of Sindh and at isolated places in Karachi and Hyderabad districts.
KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd April, 2026) Widespread thunderstorms, scattered heavy rains and hailstorms have hit parts of Sindh, while widespread intermittent rains accompanied by wind, thunder and isolated hailstorms or heavy falls are expected on Friday in the upper and south-eastern areas of Sindh and at isolated places in Sindh. Rain and thunderstorms fell in various places in Sindh on Thursday under the influence of a strong westerly wave affecting most parts of the country and is likely to continue in the upper and central parts until April 4.
Various areas of Karachi received intermittent rains with isolated heavy falls that inundated low-lying areas and disrupted traffic on arterial and main roads while power supply to various feeders was suspended. Provincial and local governments took immediate steps to remove rainwater and keep traffic flowing.
According to the Meteorological Office, the wettest area in Karachi was Nazimabad with 70 mm rainfall, received Keamari 56, Saadi Town 48, University Road 44, Bahria Town 44, Orangi Town 39, Gulshan Maimar 36, Jinnah Station 35, Surjani Town 35, Old Airport Area, Dr.
HA-Phase 2- 33, Faisal Base 30, North Karachi, Masroor Base 29, Korangi 18 and Gulshan-e-Hadid 17 mm of rain till evening.
Among other areas of the district, 50mm of rain was recorded in Mohenjo-Daro, followed by Jacobabad with 22, Dadu with 14, Hyderabad with 13, Larkana 08, Badidan 03, Rohri, Khairpur and Sakrand 02, Chor and Mithi 01 mm.
The Meteorological Office expected intermittent rain, thunderstorms, isolated hailstorms, and heavy precipitation to continue over large areas of the country. MirpurkhasSanghar, Umerkot, Nagarparkar, Tharparkar, Dadu, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Larkana, SocorGhotki, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad and Nowshera Feroz, while they were isolated places in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin and Sujawal districts.
