Hyderabad, March 15, 2026 – Wheat and mustard crops grown for quality seeds at Latif Experimental Farm of Sindh Agricultural University have matured and are ready for harvest. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Sial inaugurated the wheat harvesting and mustard threshing.

While growing crops, farmers face several challenges, such as water scarcity, unapproved seeds, unexpected rains, and other difficulties. He further stated that Sindh Agricultural University is playing its role in ensuring this food protection. In this regard, he added that the Seed Production Development Center (SPDC) provides certified basic and pre-basic seeds to farmers in Sindh.

In addition, training workshops were organized for farmers, agricultural experts and students.

On this occasion, the Director of University Farms, Dr. Muhammad Mithal Lund, stated that more than 13 varieties of wheat were grown in the agricultural lands of the Al-Latif Experimental Farm for seed production, and after various experiments, better productivity was achieved. He said that basic and pre-basic seeds will be provided to farmers in Sindh at the time of wheat planting to increase productivity.

He also added that in order to produce quality mustard seeds, ‘Kazula’ and ‘Sind Raya’ varieties were grown, which also produced better yields.
