WASA removes rainwater within hours after heavy rainfall

Faisalabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 4, 2026) Director General of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Saqib Raza, assured the immediate drainage of rainwater after heavy rains amounting to 109 mm in the city, and the restoration of normal traffic flow within a few hours.

The WASA Director General along with other officers made emergency visits to the various roads to review the sanitation situation and appreciated the efforts of the operations staff for their timely response and effective actions, the WASA spokesperson said here on Saturday.

He said that although rainfall of up to 109 mm was recorded in the city, Wasa was fully prepared to address the situation. He added that in view of the weather forecast, all field staff have already been deployed to their work points and machines have been kept fully operational to respond immediately.

MD WASA said that rainwater from major roads including Samundri Road, Sargodha Road, Sheikhupura Road, Satiana Road, Jhang Road, Iqbal Stadium, Madina City, Canal Road, Bilal Road and Samanabad was drained in just four hours while all other ponding points were also completely cleared.

He said that the newly carpeted roads in the city also played a supportive role in smooth rainwater drainage.

He added that providing quality sanitation services to citizens is a top priority for WASA and no compromises will be made on service delivery in this regard.
