Ulama emphasize unity and peace at iftar ceremony in Rawalpindi

Religious scholars and community leaders stressed the need for unity and harmony among Muslims while appreciating the peaceful celebration of the Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him) throughout Punjab.

Addressing an iftar gathering organized under the “Maryam Ki Mehman” initiative at New Darbar Adda, Mandi More, Bairwadai, Pir Syed Jamilur Rahman of Aidgha Sharif said that Ali (peace be upon him) Day was celebrated in a peaceful manner across the province due to the effective strategy of the Punjab government.

He said religious scholars should focus on promoting unity and harmony among Muslims, adding that all available resources are being used to maintain peace in the province.

He also expressed his appreciation for the positive role played by religious scholars in promoting unity among Muslims on the occasion of the Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him).

Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Ziaullah Shah said mutual understanding and unity were essential to maintain peace. He said that all segments of society stand behind the law enforcement agencies for the security and stability of Pakistan.

He added that peace committees remained fully active across Punjab during the holy month of Ramadan and that the provincial government was making efforts to promote inter-communal harmony and unity among Muslims.

The speakers also acknowledged the importance of the role of religious scholars in the moral and social reform of society.

Speaking on the occasion, Pir Syed Imran Haider Shah, Haji Haqwaz, Raja Zafar Iqbal and Chaudhry Amjad said that the scholars were promoting unity among Muslims through their sermons and guidance from the pulpit.

They strongly condemned the aggression against Iran and the martyrdom of its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and said that the challenges facing the Islamic world can only be addressed through unity and solidarity.

They also expressed their appreciation for the positive policies of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, saying that the imams of mosques recognize them.

Haji Haqwaz said that “Maryam Ki Mehman” iftar will be arranged on Ramadan Dastarkhwan every year.

Earlier, Pir Syed Jamilur Rahman performed prayers before breaking the fast and offered special prayers for peace, security and stability in the country.
