Peshawar (Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – April 1, 2026) Peshawar On Wednesday, police foiled an assassination attempt targeting former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mahmoud Can and arrested two suspects in possession of weapons.
According to police, the suspects planned to carry out a targeted attack. However, timely actions by law enforcement agencies prevented the planned crime attempt, potentially saving lives.
At the time of the attempted attack, Mahmoud Jan was accompanied by his cousin. However, due to the quick intervention of the police, no damage was reported.
The arrested accused were identified as Haris, son of Tajuddin, and Musa Khan, son of Afsar Khan.
Both were said to be residents of Isa Khel Safad Sangh.
Police officials said that the suspects were arrested near Pishtikhara Dora Road, Safed Deri. During the operation, weapons and a motorcycle used in the planned attack were also seized.
Metropolitan Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Dr Mian Saeed, confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the suspects and further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the conspiracy and any possible accomplices.
