He said in a statement that the Supreme Committee is committed to carrying out comprehensive reforms in higher education education sector in the country. Dr. Niaz said that important steps are being taken to make universities compatible with national needs and global trends.

He said that to make university education effective and fruitful, the Results-Based Education Committee has been established, which will formulate recommendations for curriculum and academic improvement. results And inspection system.

According to the Chairman of the HEC, a special committee has also been formed to strengthen research, innovation and commercialization offices, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between industry and universities and commercializing research.

He said that HEC has decided to make the certificate and document verification system completely electronic, after which students will not need to come to HEC offices for verification.

Dr. Niaz Akhtar also said that a ranking committee has been established to improve the global rankings of Pakistani universities, which will provide the universities with strategies to improve their global rankings.

Special committees are also being established at the provincial level to undertake reforms in the higher education sector, which will include vice-chancellors of universities, provincial higher education councils and representatives of higher education departments.

Professor Niaz Ahmad Akhtar said that the university will also review the quality of degree programs in engineering, medical education and agriculture so that the educational programs can be improved as per the required standards.

He said that work is also underway to make the university entrance examination system more transparent and standardized because the quality of any university’s graduates is linked to the quality of its admitted students.

He said that it was proposed to oblige obtaining a no-objection certificate from the Supreme Elections Committee before enacting legislation on establishing new universities, while universities were directed to fill vacant administrative positions immediately so that the education system can operate effectively.

According to the HEC Chairman, 65,000 laptops have been distributed to students under the government laptop program so far, while the remaining laptops will also be distributed to students soon.

The head of the HEC noted that steps are being taken to promote applied research and entrepreneurship in universities so that research projects can be transformed into practical solutions, new products and economic opportunities.
