Lahore (Urdu Point Network, March 4, 2026) Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the provincial high committee to review the general security situation in the province, here on Wednesday.

Participants reviewed the law and order across the province and expressed satisfaction with the effective coordination between institutions. The Prime Minister said she was proud of Pakistan and its leadership, adding that despite multiple challenges, the country was blessed with success from God Almighty. She directed that the anti-drone unit be fully activated in Punjab and said that anti-drone cells should also be established at the district level. She expressed her gratitude to the Pakistan Army and Sindh Police for the success of Operation Katcha and said that no case of kidnapping for ransom had emerged in the region during the past three and a half months.

The Prime Minister said that digital surveillance of anti-social elements is necessary and cannot be diluted. Observing that full compliance with the ban on unsafe cycling practices during Basnet’s tenure demonstrated public respect for the law, she said Lahore was moving towards becoming smog-free without closing schools and hotels.

She stressed that under the Ramadan Negehibhan package, 4.2 million families received Rs 10,000 each, while assistance is being provided to eligible individuals who were excluded within 24 hours. Goods were made available at reasonable prices through Sohat Ramadan Bazaars in every tehsil.

The meeting was informed that more than 10,500 illegal Afghan citizens have been repatriated and daily combing operations are continuing. The Prime Minister directed strict implementation of standard operating procedures for the security of Chinese citizens and said that any negligence will not be tolerated. She added that artificial intelligence-based technology, similar to the Chinese model, will be introduced to manage traffic in Lahore, and that Chinese citizens will now only move under police escort.

The meeting observed that the manner in which law and order was maintained in Punjab was commendable and appreciated the effective coordination among security institutions.

The session was also attended by Corps Commander Lahore and other senior officials.
