ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 2, 2026) Pakistan Senate President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani visited the Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Islamabad to offer his heartfelt condolences on the death of former President Liamine Zeroual.
The Senate President was received by Dr. Ibrahim Romani, Algerian Ambassador to Pakistan.
Expressing deep sorrow, the Senate President expressed his condolences on behalf of the people of Pakistan, the Senate of Pakistan, and on his own behalf, to the government and people of Algeria as well as to the bereaved family.
The President of the Senate said in his speech: “I learned with deep sadness of the death of Liamine Zeroual, former President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
President Zeroual was a statesman of great dignity, wisdom and determination. Pakistan He highly values his historical and fraternal relations with Algeria. As a great friend and supporter of Pakistan, former President Zeroual fostered these relations rooted in shared ideals, mutual respect and shared aspirations.
The Senate President also recorded his condolences in the condolence book located in the embassy.
The Ambassador to the International Study Center and Advisor to the President of the Senate, Misbah Khar, also attended this occasion. She also expressed her condolences.
