The IGP reviews the progress of police IT projects and digital citizen services

Lahore, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6 Mar, 2026) Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim on Friday chaired a meeting to review the progress of ongoing police IT projects and proposals to expand digital services for citizens in line with the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the meeting was briefed on various digitalization initiatives aimed at enhancing facilities for citizens and improving policing through modern technology.

The Director General of Punjab Safe Cities Authority and DIG IT gave a detailed briefing to IGP Punjab regarding ongoing digitalization measures and future IT-based reforms.

During the briefing, it was informed that the scope of digital citizen services has been expanded under Pakistan Police application to provide more facilities to the public.

Abdul Karim directed the need to modernize police rules as part of the Prime Minister’s initiative to continue improving information technology platforms and digital police systems.

Through the Center Service Police, citizens will soon be able to register missing reports online and track the progress of investigations, the spokesman said.

In collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), online verification of documents including national ID cards, passports and educational certificates will also be ensured.

The spokesperson added that citizens will be able to receive updates on missing reports, FIRs and basic status of investigations from home without visiting police stations.

The meeting was attended by Additional IG Investigations, Additional IG Logistics and Procurement, Additional IG Operations, MD Safe Cities, DIG Traffic, DIG Logistics and Procurement, AIG IT along with other senior officials.
