
The central mourning procession on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (may God be pleased with him) on the 21st of Ramadan concluded peacefully at Imambarjah Husseiniyah of Iran on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements throughout the city.
KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11 March, 2026) The central mourning procession on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (may God be pleased with him) on 21 Ramadan concluded peacefully at Imambarjah Hussainiya of Iran on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements across the city.
The procession was taken out from Nishtar Park and passed through its traditional route including Nomish, Britto Road, Empress Market, Regal, Tibet Centre, Khaliq Dina Road, Denso Hall, Plastic Market, Bombay Bazaar and Baghdadi Crossing before reaching its destination.
A comprehensive security plan has been implemented before Karachi The police are coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of mourners and maintain law and order during the event.
Under the plan, a total of 5,213 police officers and personnel were deployed across the city, including 19 deputies/service providers, 53 deputies, 755 NGOs, 4,244 commanders and policemen and 142 female police officers.
Special security arrangements were made on the procession route, entry and exit points, and return routes, ensuring road closures, sudden inspections, and continuous monitoring through surveillance cameras. Sharp shooters were also deployed in high-rise buildings along the road to maintain surveillance.
In addition, 100 Special Security Unit (SSU) commandos conducted security missions along the main procession route and at other sensitive locations.
Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) A team from the State Security Unit remained on high alert to deal with any untoward situation, while a specialized command and control bus was deployed alongside the convoy to monitor the overall law and order situation.
Meanwhile, IGP Karachi Azad Khan visited MA Jinnah Road during the day to review the security arrangements. He inspected the route of the procession, security procedures and the deployment of police personnel, and directed the officers to remain vigilant and ensure maximum facilities for the participants.
Later, Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan appreciated the performance of Karachi Police, Traffic Police and other law enforcement agencies for maintaining effective security arrangements during mourning processions and assemblies across the city.
He said assured security, coordinated strategy and inter-institutional cooperation helped maintain law and order on the occasion. He also praised the professionalism, dedication and spirit of service shown by the officers and personnel deployed in the service.
Reaffirming the force’s commitment, he said Karachi Police would continue to take effective measures to protect the lives and property of citizens and maintain peace in the city.
