Rawalpindi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – March 16, 2026) Rawalpindi The Waste Management Company (RWMC) carried out a special zero-waste cleanliness operation across Rawalpindi division on the night of 27th Ramadan to ensure a clean environment for devotees and residents.
Under this initiative, RWMC teams carried out large-scale cleaning, washing and lime spraying operations in mosques, their adjoining areas and cemeteries across the division. More sanitation staff and machines have been deployed to maintain cleanliness and ensure prompt removal of waste.
According to the RWMC spokesperson, the bins were washed and the drains were thoroughly cleaned, and the garbage was immediately collected and transported to the designated disposal sites to facilitate the worshipers’ prayers during the holy month.
A separate cleanliness drive was also conducted at cemeteries across the city, with sanitation workers clearing weeds, removing waste and spraying lime to provide a better environment for visitors who would like to pay respects to their deceased relatives.
At the same time, the company continued its awareness campaign against littering throughout the department. Announcements were made over loudspeakers in various localities, and information kiosks were set up at bus stops, streets and markets to encourage citizens to dispose of waste at designated points.
Awareness messages were also disseminated through mosque advertisements, hygiene tours, displays on large public screens, and broadcast on cable television and radio.
Rawalpindi Waste Management Company CEO Rana Sajid Safdar said that providing a clean environment to citizens during the month of Ramadan and before Eid al-Fitr remains the organisation’s top priority.
He said that RWMC employees are working around the clock to make the city waste-free and urged residents to cooperate by disposing of garbage in designated places only to help keep Rawalpindi clean and beautiful.
