Prime Minister Shahbaz invites the delegations of the United States and Iran to Islamabad on April 10 for talks with a ceasefire agreed upon.

ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 8, 2026) With the US and Iran agreeing to an immediate ceasefire everywhere at the request of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday invited the delegations of the two countries to Islamabad on April 10 to continue negotiating a “final agreement” to settle all disputes.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Shahbaz announced that the United States and Iran have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere.

The Prime Minister wrote: “With all humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, effective immediately.”

He added: “I warmly welcome this wise gesture and express deep gratitude to the leadership of the two countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, April 10, 2026 to continue negotiating in order to reach a final agreement to settle all disputes.”

The Prime Minister said that the two parties had shown great wisdom and understanding and remained constructively engaged in promoting the cause of peace and stability.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of “bombing and attacks” on Iran for two weeks, describing it as a two-sided ceasefire, just two hours after a request from Prime Minister Shahbaz.

“Based on talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir Pakistan“As they have asked me to stop the destructive force that will be sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s agreement to the complete, immediate, and secure opening of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for two weeks,” Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Prime Minister Shahbaz had asked President Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks to allow diplomacy to take its course and also for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz for a similar period as a goodwill gesture.
