Islamabad (APP – Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 16 Mar 2026) In a great initiative, Pakistan Football Association President Syed Mohsin Gilani has cashed his allowance to attend Congress and Executive Committee meetings among the country’s top performers.
The President of the Pakistan Football Federation launched the historic initiative by handing over his attendance allowance to the Congress meeting on December 29, 2025 to Pakistan U-20 national team player Mohammad Abdullah during a short visit to Jinnah Stadium, where the team is preparing for the upcoming SAFF U-20 Championship.
Gilani supervised the team’s training session under coach Shehzad Anwar and spoke to the players who will leave for the Maldives on March 21 to participate in the SAFF Under-20 Championship.
Jilani reiterated his commitment that the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) will continue to do its best for the country’s players and coaches, and said he expects the U-20 men’s team to give their all in the SAFF U-20 Championship, where they will face Pakistan. India And Bangladesh in the group stage.
Abdullah became the first recipient of the AFC President’s Wildcard Award for his outstanding performance in the SAFF Under-17 Championship. The young striker finished as top scorer with six goals in the tournament as Pakistan reached the semi-finals.
He said: “I am not just the president of the association, I am the president of all players. Every player wants some form of motivation and what we want is for you all to perform well and we will try to support you all as much as we can. This is a small sign of appreciation on my part and this practice will continue in the future.”
Abdullah’s father, former Pakistani international player Tahir Pervez, praised the initiative of the Pakistan Football Federation president. “This has never happened in the past, and the current crop of players are lucky to have Gilani as president of the Philippine Football Federation,” Pervez said.
