Pakistan and UAE to boost trade cooperation in virtual meeting

Federal Minister of Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, held a productive virtual meeting with Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss ongoing trade cooperation and regional economic cooperation.

ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3 April 2026) Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a fruitful virtual meeting with His Excellency Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates to discuss ongoing trade cooperation and regional economic cooperation.

A statement issued here on Friday said that the meeting was also attended by Rana Ahsan Afzal, Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Commerce, Commerce Minister Jawad Paul and senior officials of the Commerce Ministry.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, and highlighted the importance of facilitating smooth trade, logistical coordination and enhancing market access.

The discussion covered key sectors including petroleum products, foodstuffs and other high-demand commodities, with both sides agreeing to simplify processes for exporters and traders.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for the support and cooperation of the UAE authorities, including assistance from missions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as private sector partners such as DP World.

The Minister noted that despite the ongoing operational challenges and austerity measures in Pakistan, the two countries remain committed to maintaining strong trade relations and finding practical solutions to facilitate business.

Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi stressed the UAE’s commitment to Pakistan, noting the progress that has been made in transactions over the past years, stressing the importance of coordination and sequencing to ensure mutual benefit.

The two sides agreed to maintain regular communication, as their teams will meet next week to discuss remaining operational and logistical points, and explore further opportunities for growth in bilateral trade.

The meeting reflected the joint determination to enhance economic cooperation, enhance trade facilitation and deepen the partnership between Pakistan and the UAE.
