Chichawatni (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8 April, 2026) Authorities here on Wednesday inspected drainage operations across the city following recent rains, as efforts continue to prevent flooding and disruption in urban areas.
deputy commissioner, SahiwalSamia Ullah Farooq, accompanied by WASA Director General Tanveer Qaiser, visited several areas during the rains to review water drainage arrangements.
They examined low-lying neighbourhoods, main roads and major intersections, assessing ongoing drainage works, availability of machinery and performance of field staff.
Officials directed the work teams at the site to exploit all available capabilities to ensure the rapid removal of rainwater, in order to maintain the flow of traffic and reduce inconvenience to residents.
They also emphasized the necessity of continuous monitoring of the drainage process, and directed emergency response teams to remain on maximum alert to deal with any developing situation.
The agency’s director general said during a press conference that special teams have been deployed throughout the city and that the machines are operating at full capacity. Additional staff have also been deployed at critical points to ensure timely disbursement, he added.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed that public complaints be addressed promptly, with field staff remaining active at all times to respond quickly to any issues.
