Lahore (APP – Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 6 Apr, 2026) Multan The Sultans recovered from their first defeat this season against… Lahore Qalandars with a comfortable six-wicket victory Quetta Gladiators chasing 167 in the thirteenth match of Pakistan Super League 11 at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday night.

With this victory, Multan Sultans rose to the top of the points table with six points from four matches, equal with Karachi Kings but are ahead with a better net run rate.

After being asked to bat first, Saud Shakeel’s patient 56 off 41 balls with the help of six fours and a six along with New Zealand’s Bevon Jacobs’ unbeaten 49 off 31 balls featuring four fours and three sixes lifted Quetta to 166 for seven.

The wrestlers lost their openers Shamil Hussain (2) and Khawaja Muhammad Nafi (12, 7b, 1 x 4, 1 x 6) on the power play to Muhammad Nawaz and Ashton Turner respectively.

Saud and Hasan Nawaz (20, 22b, 3 x 4s) anchored the innings with a 55-run third-wicket partnership, but Arafat Minhas broke through in the 10th over when Josh Philip stumbled.

Riley Rousseau (1) fell four balls later as Quetta fell to 72 for four balls with Arafat (4-0-14-2) picking up his second wicket in a miserable spell.

Saud held firm, scoring a half-century off 34 balls before Nawaz scored twice in quick succession in the 17th over. He first removed Saud, who was caught by Steve Smith as he attempted to cross the line, then dismissed Tom Curran, who was notably caught by Turner diving to his left at short cover, to finish with three for 30 and leave Quetta reeling at 122 for six inside 17 overs. Mohammad Nawaz received the Player of the Match (PoTM) award for his match-winning wicket to Khawaja Mohammad Nafi and Saud Shakeel.

Jacobs produced an impressive counter-attack, rotating the strike with Ahmed Danial (22 hits retired, 9b, 2x4s, 1×6) to push Quetta beyond the 160 mark.

The innings ended on a worrying note for Quetta as Daniel sustained a right hamstring injury while completing the third over off the fifth ball of the last over and had to retire in pain before Alzarri Joseph was run out of the final delivery.

In reply, Multan opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan (32, 14b, 4x4s, 2x6s) and Smith gave the chase a blistering start, racing to 50 in just 3.2 overs. Smith burned a six in the opener against Alzarri Joseph while Farhan dismantled Abrar Ahmed for a six and a boundary in the second over.

Smith then plundered four straight hits from Curran in the next zone to put together 16 runs. However, Joseph broke through in the sixth over when Farhan miscued a lift and was caught by Abrar in the third over but the damage was done with Multan at 71 for one.

After scoring 83 runs for one in the Powerplay, Multan’s cause was helped as Philip (18, 15b, 2 x 4) kept the momentum going along with Smith before Saud broke the 25-run partnership in the eighth over, with Philip catching Abrar at short third.

Smith continued to dominate, reaching his half-century off 29 balls before falling to 53 in the 14th over. Rousseau sprinted from deep square leg and made a stunning catch, throwing the ball to substitute spinner Saqib Khan before falling over the boundary rope.

At 136 for three, it was still a losing match for Multan. Shan Masood (46 not out, 30b, 2x4s, 2x6s) made sure there were no further obstacles, anchoring the chase with a set piece. Hassan got his second wicket when he trapped Arafat earlier in the 16th over at 148 but Shan and Turner sealed the win by 15 balls.
