KP CM sets development roadmap 2026-27; Unveils Rs 1,000 billion Roshan Kapil package

Peshawar, March 14, 2026 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Saturday laid out a comprehensive vision for the province’s growth during a video meeting of the Planning and Development Department.

He directed that PC-1 of all schemes under the upcoming Annual Development Program 2026-27 (ADP) be completed by June 1.

This new roadmap aims to drive comprehensive regional development, with a particular focus on upgrading lagging regions and prioritizing sectors that provide direct public benefits, such as educationhealth care, employment and basic amenities.

Reviewing the current fiscal year (2025-2026), the meeting noted that 67% of the funds released have already been used, and 218 high-priority projects are scheduled to be completed next year.

Looking ahead to the next fiscal cycle, the provincial government plans to strike a balance between continuity and innovation, allocating 80% of funds to ongoing projects and 20% to new initiatives.

The Rs 1,000 billion ‘Roshan Kapil’ package is set to be the cornerstone of the merged regions. The ambitious agenda also includes several specialized projects, including the creation of a healthy city, the Feel the Forest program, a tribal medical college, and a tribal university.

The upcoming program also emphasizes modernization and social welfare through the introduction of virtual classrooms, artificial intelligence curricula, and “bag-free” schools.

Additional milestones include the Khyber Safari Train, expansion of the rapid transit network to other sections, and completion of safe city infrastructure.

To ensure inclusivity, the plan includes an integrated development package for the Upper Chitral region, expansion of shelter and Zamung Kor networks, and self-employment and education projects for children with special needs and persons with disabilities.
