Peshawar, March 14, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday congratulated all the newly elected officials who achieved victory in the annual elections of the Islamabad National Press Club for the period 2026-2027.
In his message, the governor congratulated the newly elected President Abdul Razak Sial, Secretary Dr Furqan Rao and other successful officials and described their victory as a reflection of the trust reposed in them by the journalist community.
Faisal Karim Kundi also extended special congratulations to Vice President Sehrish Qureshi and Joint Secretary Shakila Jalil for winning the seats reserved for women, and described the increasingly active role of women journalists in the country’s media landscape as a positive development.
He expressed his appreciation for the transparency and peacefulness with which the National Press Club elections were held, and said that the large participation of journalists was a sign of the strong democratic traditions within the Press Club.
The governor expressed his hope that the new elected leadership would use its best abilities to address the issues of working journalists, especially job security, pending payment of salaries by media owners and vocational training opportunities.
He stressed that freedom of expression is the foundation of democracy, and said that the National Press Club has always played a leading role in promoting this important value.
