Health Minister inspects facilities at PKLI Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 6, 2026) as Provincial Minister of State Affairs essential On Monday, Director General of Secondary Healthcare, Khawaja Salman Rafiq, chaired a meeting to review the performance of healthcare facilities in Pakistan Kidney and Liver Research Institute and Center (PKLI) Rawalpindi.

The meeting was attended by Member of the National Assembly Tahira Aurangzeb and Secretary of Health and Specialized Medical Care education Azmat Mahmood, while Dean Prof. Dr. Faisal Dar joined via video link. Project Manager PKLI Rawalpindi Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Khan and other officials were also present.

During the briefing, the minister informed that hundreds of patients visit the outpatient department daily, while deserving and underprivileged patients are provided with free treatment under financial scrutiny.

Officials emphasized that facilities including dialysis, X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI are available at the center equipped with 35 dialysis machines.

The Minister also visited the hospital’s various departments and was briefed on health care services.

Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafiq said that the government is striving to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services across the province, adding that patients from Azad KashmirKhyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northern Districts and Gilgit-Baltistan have also benefited from this facility.

He noted that free treatment has been provided to thousands of patients under special initiatives and added that steps are underway to start kidney and liver transplantation services at the facility soon.

Tahira Aurangzeb said that quality dialysis services are being provided to patients at the local level, adding that the government believes in practical measures and not just claims.

Secretary of Specialized Healthcare, Azmat Mahmoud, confirmed that priority has been given to completing health projects and operating them effectively throughout the governorate.
