Foreign ministers of Islamic countries review ways to permanently end the war in the region: DPM

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – March 29, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar said, during the quadripartite meeting, that the foreign ministers of Turkey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan They reaffirmed unity to contain the regional situation, reduce the risks of military escalation, and create conditions for orderly negotiations between the parties concerned.

In a statement issued at the conclusion of the second meeting of the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan on Sunday, he said that the ministers called for dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable way to prevent conflicts and promote regional peace and harmony.

He added: “We called for adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.”

He said that he held very productive bilateral meetings with the visiting foreign ministers.

This is the second meeting of consultations between the foreign ministers who met earlier in Riyadh on March 19.

He said that the foreign ministers had a very detailed and in-depth discussion on the current regional situation and reviewed possible ways to bring an early and permanent end to the war in the region.

The Ministers expressed concern that the ongoing conflict is extremely unfortunate due to its devastating impact on lives and livelihoods across the region. He added, “We agreed that this war is not for the benefit of anyone and will only lead to death and destruction. The unity of the Islamic nation in these difficult times is of the utmost importance.”

The Deputy Prime Minister briefed the visiting foreign ministers on the prospects for possible US-Iran talks in Islamabad, and expressed their full support for the initiative.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the ministers also discussed ways and means to enhance mutual cooperation between the four sister countries. He added, “In this regard, we decided to form a committee of four senior officials from the relevant foreign ministries to develop modalities through mutual understanding and consensus.”

He expressed his deep gratitude to the Foreign Minister for supporting Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan has maintained regular communication with regional and international partners. “Pakistan has remained actively engaged in all efforts and initiatives to end this conflict,” he said, adding, “Pakistan also has a very important relationship with the United States. We have remained actively engaged with the American leadership as well, as part of our efforts to de-escalate the situation and find a peaceful solution to the conflict.”

“In this context, Pakistan is very happy that Iran and the United States have expressed their confidence in Pakistan to facilitate the talks,” he said.

He added, “Pakistan will be honored to host and facilitate meaningful talks between the two sides in the coming days for a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the ongoing conflict.”

He said that he had a detailed telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and that China fully supports Pakistan’s initiative to host the Iran-US talks.

“Similarly, I had a telephone conversation with the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The Secretary-General expressed his full support for Pakistan’s peace initiative. I also had several telephone conversations with my counterparts from different countries around the world. They all expressed their full support and confidence in our efforts,” he explained.

He said: “There is strong appreciation and support among all our friends for the efforts made by Pakistan. We will continue our efforts with sincerity and commitment.”

He said at the conclusion of his statement, “Pakistan will need the prayers and support of the entire international community for the success of its efforts to achieve peace and put a permanent end to this war.”
