Dera Ismail Khan (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6 Apr, 2026) Heavy rains have caused a breach in the Shah Kot Minor Canal, releasing floodwaters that have severely damaged standing crops in several villages in Paharpur.
According to details, the rising waters submerged agricultural lands in Thatta Balochanwala, Gebi, Mubarak Shah and Sardarwala, destroying large portions of wheat crops ready for harvest. Local residents immediately launched self-help relief efforts during the night to contain the damage and protect their property.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Paharpur Assistant Commissioner Dr Hamid rushed to the site and supervised the response. Heavy machinery was immediately deployed, and official relief operations began to control the situation and prevent further losses.
According to the Meteorological Department, more rain is expected in the coming days. It advised local residents, especially farmers, to take precautionary measures and make the necessary arrangements to protect their crops and property from further damage.
