Figures published by the statistical office Eurostat European UnionIt showed that in 2025, Venezuelans filed 89,500 asylum applications for the first time, making Venezuela Main country of origin for asylum seekers in the EU, 13% everyone Applications. Afghanistan Followed by 63,800 requests (10%).
Syrians came in third place with 40,000 applications (6%), after they were previously at the forefront of asylum applications from 2013 to 2024.
