KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 05 Mar, 2026) In a major move aimed at protecting homebuyers and restoring confidence in the construction sector, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has announced strict action against construction companies that fail to complete projects within the stipulated time frame.

According to a press release issued, Local Government, Housing and Regional Town Planning Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said construction companies that do not deliver projects on time will face punitive measures, including suspension of licenses, delisting/blacklisting, and ban on approval of any future projects.

Local Government Minister directed SBCA Director-General Muzammil Hussain Halboto to compile and submit details of all projects that remain incomplete despite the expiry of the approved completion period, and said the exercise would help identify projects where delays had lengthened possession timelines and created uncertainty for buyers.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the decision was taken to protect the interests of citizens and to ensure transparency, discipline and accountability in the construction sector.

He noted that the government has received complaints that many construction companies are causing unnecessary delays, leaving families struggling with rent burdens, loan repayments, and uncertainty about ownership – leading to significant financial and emotional distress.

The minister stressed that “protecting consumer rights is our top priority,” adding that the government will not allow any party to exploit citizens who invest their savings in housing projects. He stressed that anyone who keeps projects suspended due to negligence or bad faith will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
