In his interaction here with the Ulema of the Ahl al-Irshad community where issues of national security and the role of the Ulama in communal harmony were discussed, the Armed Forces Committee stressed that the Afghan Taliban must prevent the use of Afghan territory for terrorism against Pakistan, a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The Field Marshal stressed the vital role of scholars in promoting unity, tolerance and national cohesion, especially in combating misinformation, sectarian discourses and destabilization efforts sponsored by foreign parties.
The Field Marshal stressed to the participants Pakistan’s efforts and proactive diplomacy in seeking to stop the regional escalation.
He emphasized the crucial role that scholars play in promoting unity and combating extremism, stressing the need not to exploit religious feelings to incite violence in the country.
He added that violence would not be tolerated in Pakistan based on events occurring in another country.
The participating scholars expressed their desire for peace and stability, and condemned violence in the name of religion in the strongest terms.
They expressed their sincere support to the law enforcement agencies in achieving peace and stability in the country, the press release said.
