Central Region police arrested more than 80 suspects in February

KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6 March, 2026) Central District Police carried out large-scale operations against criminal elements during the month of February, arresting more than 80 suspects involved in street crimes, robberies and other crimes.

The Central District Performance Report, issued by Chief Inspector of Central Police Dr Muhammad Imran Khan, said the operations were conducted under the directions of Additional Inspector General of Police – Karachi The DIGP Western Region.

According to the report, police encountered street criminals in 42 confrontations during the month. One suspect was killed, 50 others were arrested in case of injury, and 32 were arrested on the spot, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to 82.

The police also launched a crackdown on illegal weapons, recording 108 cases and arresting 107 suspects. During the operations, 104 pistols, repeaters, and 341 rounds of ammunition were found.

Special campaigns against repeat offenders and thieves led to the arrest of 35 repeat offenders and 19 suspects involved in theft cases.

In intelligence operations against organized crime, the police arrested 24 gangs and arrested 107 suspects of involvement in various criminal activities.

During anti-drug operations, the police registered 56 cases, arrested 75 suspects, and seized 13.5 kilograms of hashish, one kilogram of ice, and 255 grams of heroin.

The police also intensified the crackdown on the sale of gutka and mawa, registering 62 cases and arresting 83 suspects. During the operations, 5,267 bundles of gutka/mawa and 378 kg of betel nut were seized.

The report added that the police traced 16 cases of theft and street crimes reported in various areas, including New Karachi, FB Industrial Area, Sir Syed, North Karachi Industrial Area, Azizabad, Gulberg, Bilal Colony, Nazimabad and Shah Noor Jehan, leading to the arrest of the suspects involved.

The SSP said the district police remain committed to eliminating crime and ensuring the protection of citizens through continuous and coordinated professional action.
