Ayaz urges collective action to protect the environment

Islamabad (Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 28 March 2026) Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Saturday, described environmental protection as a shared responsibility for all segments of society, and urged citizens to adopt environmentally friendly customs that go beyond symbolic celebrations.

Speaking at a ceremony held outside the Parliament building on the occasion of Earth Hour 2026, he reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Speaker of Parliament said that Earth Hour should not be seen as simply turning off the lights for one hour, but rather as a collective pledge to protect the planet.

He said energy conservation measures were being strictly enforced inside Parliament House as part of broader efforts to ensure responsible use of resources.

As part of the global Earth Hour campaign led by WWF, the lights of Parliament House are turned off from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. As in previous years, all non-essential lighting remains off during this period.

Ayaz Sadiq stressed that small individual actions, when combined, can lead to a large and lasting environmental impact.

He said that Pakistan It faces multiple challenges due to climate change, highlighting the need for comprehensive policies and effective implementation to address these issues.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed that taking timely measures is essential to ensure a safe and sustainable future for future generations, adding that reducing air pollution and reducing harmful emissions are among the most urgent priorities.

He stressed the importance of sustainable use of natural resources and promoting environmentally responsible practices in daily life.

Ayaz Sadiq said that protecting the environment can help realize the vision of a green, clean and prosperous Pakistan, urging the nation to treat Earth Hour not as a one-time activity but as an ongoing commitment.

He also expressed his appreciation for WWF’s efforts in raising environmental awareness and promoting climate awareness among the public.
