Lahore (Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 23 March 2026) Federalism Information and Broadcasting Minister Atallah Tarar on Monday visited the family of eight-year-old Mehr, who died after a stray dog attack in the town, and announced financial assistance of Rs 500,000 along with job opportunities for the child’s father.
The minister, accompanied by prominent political figure Sajida Farooq Tarar, visited the family home Lahore He offered his condolences to the victim’s father, Qaiser Siddiq Masih, and other relatives.
Expressing deep grief over the incident, Ataullah Tarar handed over a check worth Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family and directed the authorities to arrange immediate employment for the girl’s father.
The Minister also announced the formation of a two-member committee that includes Rebekah Dougher and Mary Jill to study the issue of stray dogs and recommend preventive measures.
He said that the committee will appear before the court to clarify the legal position regarding the stay order against the killing of stray dogs and will also ask the court to withdraw the injunction.
Atallah Tarar said that the tragic death caused deep sadness and stressed that all possible steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
