Artists pay tribute to Manzor Sandhu at condolence repertory in Multan

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5th Apr, 2026) Speakers at the memorial service paid tribute to renowned stage drama director and writer Mansoor Sandhu, describing him as a committed, visionary and principled artist whose lifelong dedication to quality, family-oriented theater left an indelible mark on Multan’s cultural landscape.

The funeral reference has been organized before Multan Arts Council Literary Forum (Literary Baithak) is chaired by APP Regional Director South Punjab, M. Jehangir Khan Tareen. Participants unanimously noted that Sandow’s work was characterized by sincerity, purpose, and deep engagement with social issues, which made his plays meaningful and widely popular among audiences.

Addressing the audience, Tareen said that the services rendered by Manzoor Sandhu in the Drama Theater are unparalleled and will continue to inspire generations to come. He noted that Sandhu played a pivotal role in promoting family theater in Multan, a legacy that continues to resonate with audiences.

Quoting William Shakespeare, he said: “All the world is a stage, and all the men and women but actors,” highlighting the timeless importance of theater in reflecting human life.

Multan Arts Council Director Salim Qaiser said the late director never compromised on the standards of family entertainment and remained steadfast in his commitment to quality theatre. Renowned director, writer and artist Youssef Kamran noted that Sandhu worked with great dedication and attention to detail, which earned him enormous respect and admiration.

Eminent director, producer and writer Zawar Baloch described Sandhu as a hardworking, intelligent and seasoned director whose plays enjoyed widespread popularity. Zafar Khan Babar noted that his dramatic works are still fondly remembered by the audience.

Dr Abdul Baseer said Sandhu’s productions were rich in purpose and closely aligned with societal issues, while Syed Naqi Shah described him as a creative and highly capable director.

Renowned artist Kausar described Bhatti Sandhu as a mentor, adding that he learned a lot under his supervision. Syed Kamran Haider also recognized him as his teacher, and credited Sandhu with developing his artistic abilities.

Ijaz Ahmed Soomro remembered the late director as a simple and humble person who lived a humble life. Senior drama artist Sher Muhammad Awan said Sandhu has set a benchmark with his commitment to quality, family-oriented productions. Makeup artist Ijaz Ahmed described him as a self-respecting and principled person, saying his contributions and memories will live on.

The ceremony was attended by members of Sindhu’s family, including his brother Mahmood Ahmad Sindhu, his son Abdullah Noor Sindhu, his son-in-law Ashfaq Ahmad Lakhwira, and Naeem Sindhu, along with poets Qamar Raza Shehzad and Nawazish Ali Nadeem, and other distinguished participants.
