The Governor of Sindh hosts an Easter celebration at the Governor’s Residence

KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 5, 2026) Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi hosted an Easter celebration at the Governor’s Residence for the Christian community, which was attended by prominent local and foreign guests.

Speaking during the ceremony, Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi said that the purpose of the Easter event was to promote interfaith harmony, tolerance and national unity. He stated that the Christian community plays an important role in the development and progress of the country, and that the doors of the Governor’s House remain open to people of all faiths. He said that they equally share the joy of Easter with their Christian brothers, and that in line with the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, followers of all religions have the right to celebrate their holidays with complete freedom.

According to the press release issued, the ceremony was attended by Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong, Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom Lance Dohm, and members of the diplomatic corps from Russia, Germany and other countries.

Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Khayal Das Kohistani, Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed, Bishop Frederick John and other dignitaries were also present. The ceremony was simply organized in line with the government’s austerity policy. Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi extended his heartfelt Easter greetings to the Christian community and cut the Easter cake with the distinguished guests.

Special prayers were offered for the country’s development, prosperity, peace and security and interfaith harmony. Khayal Das Kohistani, Lance Daum, Anthony Naveed, Bishop Frederick John and Asher Albert also expressed their views, appreciating the spirit of unity, tolerance and brotherhood.
