Opening of the spring tree planting campaign in Attock

Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Anil Saeed, inaugurated the spring tree plantation campaign organized by the Environment Department of Government Postgraduate College for Women, Attock, under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and under the supervision of DC Rao Atif Raza.

Attock (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3 April 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Anil Saeed, inaugurated the spring tree planting campaign organized by the Environment Department at Government Postgraduate College for Women, Attock, under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and under the supervision of DC Rao Atif Raza.

On this occasion, he officially launched the plantation campaign by planting a sapling and reiterated his resolve to make the environment green and lush.

The event was organized by Deputy Director of Environment Dr. Rabia Nousheen. Deputy Director of Colleges Sadia Kanwal, Principal Dr. Sobia Ishrat and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anil Saeed said that agriculture is indispensable for dealing with the effects of climate change and every citizen must actively participate in this national campaign. He said that planting trees is not only an ongoing charity but also a guarantee of a clean and healthy environment for future generations.

He also said that the forest cover in Pakistan It represents approximately 5 percent of the total land area, well below the global standard of 20 to 25 percent, making farm campaigns even more important. He said that a mature tree absorbs about 22 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually and plays an important role in reducing environmental pollution. Likewise, according to experts, one acre of forest has the potential to absorb approximately six tons of carbon dioxide annually.

He said that the Punjab government is taking practical measures to make the farming campaign a success and that the district administration is using all available resources in this regard. Appreciating the role of educational institutions, he said that promoting the trend of tree plantation among students is the need of the hour so that a greener and safer Pakistan can be ensured in the future.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, seedlings were distributed to the participants, who pledged to plant more and more trees to help protect the environment.
