The police spokesman said here on Friday that the campaign was launched to reduce rising crime rates and ensure public safety across the region. He said that during these operations, 1,327 cases were successfully disposed of, while valuable items were recovered from the possession of the accused, including motorcycles, gold ornaments, mobile phones, livestock and cash worth more than Rs 116.2 million.
In a parallel campaign against drugs, the police registered 2,549 cases and arrested 2,568 drug dealers. The seized drugs included more than 1,022.165 kg of hashish, 55.41 kg of ice (crystal meth), 33.772 liters of liquor, 8 kg of opium, and 287.23 kg of heroin.
Likewise, strict action has been taken against illegal weapons, with police recovering 970 pistols, 18 pistols, 58 rifles, 12 Kalashnikov rifles, 65 rifles and 3,098 rounds of ammunition during the ongoing crackdown.
He said enforcement of the kite ban also remains a priority, with 407 cases recorded and 437 accused arrested. The police confiscated 45,316 kites and 1,167 rolls of thread.
He added that the police have intensified their efforts to arrest declared criminals and those fleeing the court. During this period, 104 defendants involved in murder cases and 131 defendants in attempted murder cases were arrested. Likewise, 894 Category A and 2,071 Category B were detained with 961 Category A and 2,193 Category B fugitives from court.
Highlighting the public service initiatives, he said that under the open door policy, daily khuli kacheris were arranged and 1,787 online complaints were helped in resolving the problems of more than 5,135 citizens.
He said that more than 186,531 citizens were facilitated through 15 police service centers and 20 service counters established throughout the region.
He said that more than 10,945 complaints received at four reservation centers and six Misaq centers were dealt with, while more than 173 notices and appeals at the departmental level were decided through the chamber’s regulated procedures.
In an important step for the welfare of the police, memorandums of understanding were signed with several leading educational institutions including the top university, Riva International College, etc. Under these agreements, children of police martyrs will receive 100 percent fee concessions while children of injured police personnel (Gazis) as well as current and retired officers will benefit from fee reductions of 75 percent and 50 percent.
He said that a memorandum of understanding was also signed with Zia Saint Medical Complex, to provide 100 percent medical benefits to the families of police martyrs, 70 percent to the families of Ghazi officers, and 50 percent to the families of active and retired police personnel.
Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera directed all district police officers to adopt effective and practical strategies to eliminate street crimes especially theft and house robbery.
He stressed the need to tighten the noose on criminal gangs and arrest them through decisive measures. He further ordered to continue the campaign against drug dealers, gambling dens and brothels while emphasizing the need to ensure arrests in serious cases to maintain law and order throughout Faisalabad district.
