Sargodha (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3 April, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Friday chaired a meeting of the Prison Health Board to review the provision of medical facilities to inmates in Sargodha and Shahpur prisons.
Officials briefed the meeting that about 300 outpatients are being treated daily in prison hospitals, while nearly 30 prisoners are admitted for inpatient medical care.
A monthly health file was also maintained for each prisoner.
The meeting was attended by Chief Health Officer, Medical Superintendents of DHQ Teaching Hospital, MSTHQ 90 South, Shahpur, Superintendents of Prisons and other officers concerned.
Expressing concern over gaps in healthcare delivery, the DC directed authorities to ensure quality and timely medical treatment to prisoners, warning that negligence will not be tolerated.
He ordered the immediate filling of vacant posts of doctors and paramedics and stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted availability of medicines in prison hospitals.
Chaudhry also called for improving hygiene and sanitation conditions, especially in the country food Areas of preparation and guidance of administrators to address issues faced by healthcare staff on a priority basis.
