Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 3, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory Police foiled armed attacks by inter-district Dacoit gangs in the areas of Tarnool and Sabzi Mandi police stations, and arrested four suspects, including three who were injured, during the exchange of fire.
Police teams in Tarnol were conducting routine checks when they tried to stop four armed suspects riding on two motorcycles on suspicion, an official told APP on Friday.
In a separate incident, he said, the Sabzi Mandi police conducted a raid after receiving information about the presence of criminal elements, with the suspects opening fire indiscriminately on seeing the police teams.
The official said that the police remained safe thanks to protective measures and bullet-proof vests, while the suspects were injured by gunfire from their accomplices while trying to escape.
He added that three of the thieves were arrested while they were injured, while one of the suspects was arrested while trying to escape.
According to the official, the arrested suspects in Tarnool were previously involved in dozens of cases of robbery and other heinous crimes across Islamabad and Punjab.
He said the injured suspect arrested at Sabzi Mandi was also a proclaimed criminal who was wanted by the police in multiple cases of serious crimes.
The official said that the suspects confessed to committing several incidents of robbery at gunpoint in Tarnool during the days of Eid al-Fitr.
He added that four pistols and ammunition used in committing the crimes were seized from the possession of the suspects, and a stolen motorcycle was found in the Tarnool area.
He added that other partners managed to escape under the cover of darkness, and searches are underway to arrest them.
