Pakistan and Tajikistan are exploring enhancing cooperation in the legal sector

The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Tuer, and his accompanying delegation met with Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Minister of Law and Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, here on Thursday.

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 2, 2026) The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Tuer, and his accompanying delegation met today, Thursday, Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Minister of Law and Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the long-term fraternal relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan, emphasizing the common cultural heritage, historical ties and mutual goodwill that form the basis of bilateral relations. The discussions also highlighted the importance of further strengthening cooperation across the legal and institutional fields.

One of the main areas of deliberation was the proposal to sign a memorandum of understanding on mutual legal cooperation between the Ministry of Law and Justice of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The proposed memorandum of understanding aims to enhance cooperation in legal affairs, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and strengthen institutional ties between the two countries.

The two sides emphasized expanding cooperation in the legal and judicial field through the exchange of legal experts, judges and professionals. Capacity building and specialized training programmes; and exchange best practices in areas including commercial law, dispute resolution and regulatory frameworks.

Cooperation in the areas of arbitration, mediation and cross-border dispute resolution was also highlighted as a key priority.

It was also noted that enhancing coordination between the two ministries would contribute to improving access to justice, enhancing institutional efficiency, and enhancing investor confidence by ensuring transparent and predictable legal systems.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador’s efforts in deepening bilateral relations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening communication with Tajikistan in all sectors, especially in the legal and judicial fields.

The meeting concluded positively, as both sides agreed to continue close coordination to finalize and early sign the proposed Memorandum of Understanding.
