The meeting was attended by a number of officials from municipal bodies and other relevant government departments in the region.
According to an official bulletin issued on Wednesday, the Deputy Commissioner directed all officers to devise a comprehensive strategy to deal with any situation that arises before and during the rains. He also directed them to prepare and submit emergency plans.
He stressed the need to remove encroachments on drainage channels and ensure that they are cleaned properly. He also directed that sanitation machines and fire engines be kept in full operation.
He stressed the need to ensure immediate drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas after rainfall.
The DC also directed officials of the Ministry of Health and PPHI to ensure availability of life-saving medicines in all hospitals, especially Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs) across the district.
He also directed Rescue 1122 officials to complete all necessary arrangements, especially ensuring the availability of divers for emergency situations. HESCO officials have been directed to remain present in the field during rains and improve their system to avoid disturbances.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed all Assistant Commissioners to remain in the field as focal persons in their respective fields and maintain close coordination with all departments.
