The Rescue Authority proposed improving and modernizing rescue services under one umbrella in Sindh

KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th March, 2026) An important meeting of a high-level committee headed by Sindh Interior Minister Zia Al-Hassan Langar was held to deliberate on reorganizing and improving rescue and emergency services in Sindh on Monday.

The meeting was attended by senior officials and representatives of relevant departments. the essential The goal was to put all rescue-related institutions in the governorate under an effective and integrated system and to further strengthen emergency response mechanisms.

During the meeting, the Rehabilitation Secretary gave a detailed explanation of the ongoing rescue initiatives in the governorate, the challenges it faces, and future strategies.

The participants engaged in constructive and comprehensive discussions to improve the performance of rescue and emergency services and made various practical recommendations.

Addressing the meeting, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Langar stressed that all rescue institutions in the province must work under one umbrella to ensure optimal utilization of resources and enable rapid and effective response during emergencies.

He proposed establishing an independent rescue body to organize all relevant institutions under a central system and carry out all rescue activities through this body.

He further stated that the relief phase following rescue operations is equally important, making it necessary to develop a comprehensive and coordinated system. Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Langar directed that the recommendations regarding establishment of the proposed rescue authority be finalized as soon as possible and submitted to the committee, after which it will be submitted to the Chief Minister Sindh.

Provincial Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah stressed the need to formulate effective SOPs for the authority, keeping in mind the model of solid waste management in Sindh, and stressed the importance of making the institution strong and functional as a role model.

mayor KarachiMurtaza Wahab proposed setting up the authority under a single window process, focusing on centralized procurement and recruitment operations, with all affairs managed in an organized manner under the supervision of the Sindh government.

Adviser to the Sindh Prime Minister on Rehabilitation Affairs, Gian Chand Israni, stressed that rescue and relief operations must be carried out with mutual cooperation and full coordination to ensure effective results in any emergency.

IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho reiterated the commitment that the police will continue to fully support rescue operations in all types of incidents and emergencies to ensure the protection of the lives and property of citizens.

It was agreed that the establishment of a comprehensive, independent and effective rescue authority is the need of the hour, which will help in modernizing emergency services across the province.
