Islamabad, March 29, 2026 Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced 15 BYD Atto 2 electric vehicles into its fleet as part of its move towards green policing and clean energy adoption in Pakistan. Federalism capital.

An ITP official told APP on Sunday that the addition of electric vehicles reflects a positive step towards modern policing and environmental sustainability.

He said the initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions while enhancing the operational efficiency of traffic police across the city.

However, the official said that due to the rapid increase in population and growing traffic pressure in the capital, the current number of vehicles appears to be insufficient.

Experts believe that at least 45 vehicles and around 3,000 personnel are needed to manage traffic effectively to ensure better and more organized mobility facilities for citizens.

The Islamabad Traffic Police remains committed to adopting modern technologies and environment-friendly measures to improve service delivery, the official said.

He added that further steps are being considered to strengthen the fleet and workforce in line with the city’s growing needs.
