Islamabad (Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 28 March 2026) Earth Hour was celebrated in Federalism capital on Saturday, with non-essential lights being switched off at various locations from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm as per arrangements made by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad administration.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among residents about environmental protection and reinforce the message that conserving energy and caring for the environment is a shared responsibility.
In a message issued on this occasion, Chairman of the Community Development Authority, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that environmental protection efforts should not be limited to turning off the lights for one hour, but rather should reflect a broader commitment to leaving a safe, green and sustainable environment for future generations.
He said that the CDA is continuing practical steps to help transform Islamabad into an eco-friendly city, adding that participation in global events such as Earth Hour reflects this commitment.
The President also urged citizens to support efforts to preserve Islamabad’s natural beauty and environmental identity, and called for avoiding unnecessary consumption of electricity, describing energy conservation as a collective national responsibility.
