ISLAMABAD (APP – Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 28th Mar, 2026) Pakistani footballers Mohibullah Afridi and Waqar Baloch expressed confidence ahead of the Asia Cup qualifier against Myanmar, saying the team is well prepared for the upcoming challenge.
Speaking to the media here at Pakistan Sports Afridi said on Saturday that the team’s preparations have progressed positively in recent days.
He pointed out that the players respond well to the training sessions and benefit from the guidance of the technical staff.
“We are improving with each camp and getting valuable playing time. Our previous opponents were strong, and Myanmar is also a difficult team, but we are well prepared. We will work hard to perform better,” he said.
Afridi also highlighted the challenges of playing in empty stadiums, stressing the importance of fan support in football. He urged the fans to continue supporting the team, stressing that the players will do their best to achieve positivity a result.
Meanwhile, Baloch praised coach Nolberto Solano, describing him as an experienced personality who created a supportive and comfortable environment within the team.
He said that the coach focuses on developing local talent, especially after the players were selected through local competitions such as the National Challenge Cup.
Baloch also credited coach Rayan Abbasi for the team’s improved fitness levels, noting that fitness was a key area of progress.
Commenting on the competition, Baloch acknowledged the strength of the teams in the Pakistan group, including Syria and Afghanistan, but remained optimistic.
He pointed out that Pakistan had performed well in previous matches, including a draw against Afghanistan, and expressed his hope that the team would be able to achieve victory over Myanmar this time. “With better preparation and increased confidence, we hope to achieve a positive result,” he said.
