Islamabad (Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – March 28, 2026) Federalism Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said on Saturday Pakistan Standing on the front line of the global climate crisis, she called for moving beyond tokenistic gestures towards meaningful and sustainable environmental action.

In his message on the occasion of Earth Hour, the minister stressed that turning off the lights for an hour should serve as a reminder of the country’s collective responsibility to ensure a sustainable future, a press release said.

He said we have personally witnessed the devastating effects of climate change through catastrophic floods, unpredictable weather patterns and melting glaciers, all of which threaten our livelihoods.

Abdul Aleem Khan stressed that after this dark hour, we must commit to the vision of green infrastructure and efficient connectivity in the energy sector that can protect our environment for generations to come.

Appealing to citizens, the minister called on citizens to adopt a culture of environmental protection by reducing unnecessary energy consumption, conserving water resources, and supporting sustainable practices in their daily lives. He added that by integrating climate resilience into road networks and communication corridors, efforts are being made to ensure that our infrastructure can meet future challenges while reducing its carbon footprint.

He concluded his speech by saying that this hour should mark the beginning of a year-round commitment to protecting the beautiful and diverse landscapes of our beloved country.
