GIMS hosts the 4th Pediatrics Congress

Sukkur (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 28th March, 2026) The 4th Pediatrics Congress, organized by the Department of Pediatrics at Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Gilani Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), concluded successfully on Saturday. The two-day conference was inaugurated by GIMS Director, Dr. Rahim Bux Buti.

As the chief guest of the occasion, Dr. Butti welcomed renowned pediatricians from across the country and highlighted GIMS’ commitment to providing quality healthcare to patients from Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and abroad. He pointed out that GIMS has successfully performed various surgeries with a success rate of more than 90% with the support of the Sindh government.

The conference included prominent speakers including Prof. Dr. Saifullah Jamroo, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Rasool Bock, Prof. Bhawal Din Jamroo, Prof. Dr. Shanti Lal, Prof. Dr. Shankar Lal, Dr. Dilijan, Dr. Mumtaz Ali Bharu, Prof. Dr. Jay Krishan, Prof.

Dr. Sultan Mustafa, and Professor Dr. Ali Akbar Sial.

Topics discussed included management of asthma, types of allergies in children and their management, differentiation between viral bronchiolitis and bacterial pneumonia, and acute respiratory infections in Pakistani children.

The second session included Dr. Tufail Soomro, Dr. Ubaidullah Bhalakani, Dr. Kamran Shahani, Prof. Dr. Amanullah Leal, Prof. Dr. Salman Ali, and Prof. Iqbal Memon, who addressed micronutrient deficiencies, benefits of breastfeeding, malnutrition strategies, and confidence in vaccines.

The sessions were moderated by Dr. Pardeep Kumar and Dr. Iftikhar Haider Shah. Dr. Bakhtiar Ahmed Banbahro thanked the participants, highlighting the importance of the conference in improving pediatric and health care practices.

Later, Dr. Rahim Bux Buti distributed shields and certificates to the participants and medical staff in appreciation of their contributions.
