The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has facilitated the arrest of an organized robbery gang involved in several street crime incidents across Lahore using advanced AI-powered surveillance technology, resulting in a significant 74 percent reduction in the crime rate in the city.
Lahore, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27 Mar, 2026) The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has facilitated the arrest of an organized robbery gang involved in several street crime incidents across the country. Lahore Through the use of advanced AI-enabled surveillance technology, a significant 74 percent reduction in the crime rate in the city has been achieved.
According to the PSCA spokesperson, the accused were wanted by the police for their involvement in the kidnapping mobile Phones and money from citizens in various localities. The gang operated mainly along the main canal road and adjacent areas, using 125cc motorcycles to carry out robberies. Cases have been registered against the suspects at several police stations, including Kot Lakhpat, Defense-A, Harbanspura, Garden Town and Shadman.
Upon receiving the information, the PSCA virtual patrol officer tracked the suspects through Safe City cameras, the spokesperson said. With the help of advanced artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology, suspects were identified and their movement routes were effectively mapped. Based on intelligence information provided by the police, the police carried out a successful operation and arrested the perpetrators.
Highlighting the impact of modern technology, the spokesperson said that effective implementation of AI-based systems has contributed to a significant reduction of up to 74 percent in crime in Lahore. Citizens were urged to report any suspicious activity through the Emergency Helpline 15 or the Safe City Public Safety App for immediate action.
