SIALKOT (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th Mar, 2026) Provincial Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin on Thursday said that the upcoming monsoon season will pose a major challenge to Wasa Sialkot and directed the authorities to complete all ongoing projects within the stipulated deadlines without any delay.
While chairing a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to review the progress made on the Wasa projects, he stressed that implementation must strictly follow the interim road map. The meeting was attended by the commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Haider Shirazi, Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Saba Asghar Ali, MPA Rana Abdul Sattar, DPO Sialkot Dost Muhammad and Managing Director Wasa Faisal Shehzad along with other officials.
The Minister said that in view of the monsoon season, the Punjab government is actively working to ensure efficient drainage arrangements in urban areas and improve the drainage system through modern machinery.
He directed that all Wasa projects should be completed within the stipulated timelines, adding that any delay would not be tolerated. He stressed strict adherence to the approved roadmap to ensure timely relief to citizens.
Bilal Yassin said that although the monsoon will pose a major challenge, it will be addressed effectively through improved planning and modern equipment. He added that the Water and Sanitation Authority divided the city into three regions and developed a comprehensive plan to strengthen the sewage system.
The Minister also said that work is underway on two new water disposal plants, which will improve water flow, while upgrading of main sewer lines is also being implemented at a rapid pace, with special focus on replacing the old system.
He also directed WASA officials to ensure prompt redressal of public complaints and activate the complaints cell to facilitate citizens in a timely manner.
