GB CM, IT Minister meets Shaza Fatima; Discuss progress in digital transformation and regional development

Interim Prime Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Justice (R) Yar Muhammad Nasir, and IT Minister Ghulam Abbas on Tuesday with Federal Minister for ICT, Shatha Fatima Khawaja, to discuss progress in Pakistan’s digital transformation and regional development initiatives.

ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 24 March 2026) Caretaker Prime Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Justice (R) Yar Muhammad Nasir and IT Minister Ghulam Abbas met in Britain on Tuesday. Federalism Minister of Information Technology and Communications, Shatha Fatima Khawaja, to discuss progress in Pakistan’s digital transformation and regional development initiatives.

During the meeting, Shatha Fatima said that the government is actively working on digital transformation nationwide in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of ‘Digital Nation of Pakistan’.

She said the Prime Minister is paying special attention to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure their inclusion in the country’s digital growth.

The two sides held detailed discussions on the digital nation Pakistan The initiative, including the preparation and implementation of the national digital master plan.

They agreed to accelerate the comprehensive digitalization strategy across the country, with a focus on ensuring unified digital development in all four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan.

The participants also exchanged views on adopting a coordinated approach to digitization in various sectors. The meeting stressed the importance of strengthening the digital economy and benefiting from modern technologies to achieve sustainable growth.

The Federal Minister directed the Pakistan Digital Authority to formulate a comprehensive plan aimed at creating employment opportunities for youth in Gilgit-Baltistan and strengthening the digital economy in the region.

Particular emphasis was placed on promoting tourism through digitization, as both sides agreed to enhance digital tourism initiatives to unleash the region’s potential.

The interim Prime Minister invited the Federal Minister to visit Gilgit-Baltistan.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to take joint measures to promote digital development in the region.
