Rawalpindi (UrduPoint / Pakistan) March 24, 2026 A fire broke out in a tailoring shop near Azam Estate in Rawat on Tuesday and spread to two adjacent shops before rescue teams brought it under control.

According to a Rescue 1122 spokesman, emergency rescue teams rushed to the site immediately after the accident was reported.

He added that initial reports indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit resulting from the continuous operation of an iron.

The fire quickly intensified due to the store’s highly flammable wooden ceiling, and engulfed two neighboring stores within a short period.

Upon their arrival, the rescue teams launched quick and effective operations, safely evacuating valuable goods from the affected shops. The fire forces, in cooperation with fire engines, carried out a coordinated operation and were able to extinguish the fire.

The spokesman said that the severe traffic congestion associated with Eid caused a delay in the movement of fire trucks, but the situation was brought under control through professional dealing and effective coordination by the rescue teams.

No injuries were reported in the accident.
