Talking to APP, he said that the huge plantation target was achieved in a single day under the tree plantation drive undertaken by Prime Minister Ehsaas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Forest Department and official teams participated in the afforestation campaign throughout the province.
Civil society, district administration officials and students also actively participated in the afforestation campaign.
He said that a special website has been launched to directly follow up on the initiative.
Citizens have been given facilities to plant saplings themselves and upload data.
He added that the afforestation campaign will continue and will not be limited to just one day.
He added that the care and protection of the planted seedlings will be ensured.
The head of the forest department said that preparations are underway to plant 1.4 million saplings on August 14 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Ahmed Jalil said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the largest province in the country in terms of forest resources.
He said that efforts are continuing to protect forests and increase forest area, adding that special arrangements are being made to involve civil society and youth in the campaign.
