The High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, Ms. Fatu Haririmana, and her accompanying delegation invited the Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, to discuss ways of bilateral cooperation and issues of common interest.

Islamabad, March 17, 2026 AD The High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, Ms. Fatu Haririmana, and her accompanying delegation met with the Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, to discuss ways of bilateral cooperation and issues of common interest.

During the meeting, the two sides welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two countries, which covers the promotion of gender equality, family care and child development, including joint initiatives, exchange programs and capacity building efforts.

Its signing in Kigali represents an important step in strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and Rwanda, especially in promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, family protection, and child development.

The High Commissioner expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Government of Pakistan to promote gender equality, protect women and children, and various initiatives taken to promote human rights and social protection.

It acknowledged the progress made by Pakistan in strengthening institutional mechanisms and expressed its interest in enhancing cooperation to exchange experiences and best practices.

The two sides exchanged views on enhancing institutional cooperation, including knowledge exchange, technical cooperation and learning from best practices, especially in the areas of women’s political participation and gender mainstreaming. The Rwandan side also highlighted its own experience and progress in promoting gender equality.

The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to deepen cooperation and strengthen relations between Pakistan and Rwanda in areas of mutual interest.
